Media Release from Cook County Tennis Association - June 19, 2018

The tennis season is off to a great start.  Membership is way up, youth tennis is booming, weekly lessons and hitting clinics are in full swing, and our Block Party was a success despite the weather.

Here are the CCTA activities coming up:

Youth Tennis Summer Session 1 is in full swing with 40 kids registered for weekly lessons with Charley. Come out and encourage our kids.  They are simply amazing.   And if you have time consider volunteering to help Charley.  Check the website for lesson times.

Thunder Bay Social Doubles, Friday June 22.  Join us and travel to Thunder Bay to attend their social doubles and potluck dinner this Friday.  Players are formed into teams of 4 according to their ability and play doubles aginst each other in a round robin format.  Afterwards, the Thunder Bay folks treat everyone to a great potluck dinner.  The event is free and open to all adult players from advanced beginner to advanced (2.5-4.5).  It is a great time.  You can sign up on the website or send Bill Thomas an email ([email protected]) letting him know you want to play.  The dealine for signup is Thursday June 21.

Wooden Racquet Social Doubles, Saturday June 23 1:30-3:30.  Dust off and bring any wood racquets you have and play in our fun social doubles wooden racquet event.  Just show up at the tennis courts and get ready to go back in time and play some fun round robin doubles.  Feel free to wear white if the spirit moves you.  Extra wooden racquets are available to use.  Refreshments will be provided after the event.  CCTA member and their guests will enjoy this event for free and the fee for all other participants is $5.00.  Full details and registration at www.playtenniscookcounty.org.

Fisherman's Picnic Tennis Tournament, August 3-5.  Now is the time to sign up to play in our annual tennis tournament.  There is a full slate of men's and women's singles and doubles and mixed.  Age and ability categories, something for everyone.  And consider inviting that long lost tennis friend to come and visit for the weekend and play some fun competitive tennis with us. Full details and registration at www.playtenniscookcounty.org.

Weekly lessons and hitting clinics.  All summer Charley is holding weekly lessons for beginners to advanced players. Take what you are learning in the lessons, and practice with Carl Johnson in his free weekly hitting drills.   Full details at www.playtenniscookcounty.org.
