Summer schedule of activities for Cook County Tennis Association

After an incredible start to spring tennis in Cook County,  we are ready to start the summer tennis season.  Next week kicks off another round of junior tennis and a full schedule of adult instruction and weekly tennis play.  Also make sure to add the  CCTA Block Party to your schedule on June 9.   Here is what is coming up starting Monday, June 4.  Full details at

Junior Tennis Summer Session 1June 4- July 21. There is still time to register for Summer Session 1. Over 40 kids participated in the spring classes and the sign up for Summer Session 1 has been strong.  Full details and registration at

Deep Tennis Junior CampJune 18-20.   For junior tennis players 8-18 looking to advance their skills and competitive play.  Under the direction of CCTA Director of Tennis Instruction, Charlie Darley.  The camp’s goal is to build knowledge of and skill at all aspects of a tennis game.  Like all our classes, the camp will dig “deeply” into the multi-layered structure of tennis so our students come away with an in-depth understanding of the game and a greater mastery of the learning (listening, inquiring, analytical), emotional, and athletic skills required to learn and expertly play tennis and all other sports.   This is a
 unique opportunity to learn from a highly accomplished  tennis professional and psychologist about what it takes to succeed at tennis.    Register at

Drop in Doublesstarting June 4.  A full schedule of tennis and POP Tennis drop-in doubles kicks off Monday June 4.  Check out the schedule at

Adult Instruction.  Charley Darley offers weekly Deep Tennis instruction for all levels of players starting June 5.  Take your new skills from Charlie’s classes and practice with Carl Johnson at his free Weekly Tennis Drop-In Hitting Drills starting June 4.  Full schedule at 

BlockPartyJune 9.  The annual CCTA Block party will be held at the tennis courts from 11:00 am to 3:30 pm.  Bring a friend to learn about the CCTA SUMMER tennis activities.   Come at 11 and watch our youth tennis players demonstrate their rapidly evolving tennis skills and learn about the concepts of Deep Tennis from Charley Darley.  Lunch and fun youth and adult activities from 12-1:30.  Social doubles open to all players from 1:30-3:30.  

Thunder Bay Social DoublesJune 22@6pm.  Round robin social doubles event hosted by the Thunder Bay Community Tennis Center.  Pot luck dinner included.  Note time listed is Thunder Bay time, one hour ahead of us.  Details and registration at  No fee event. 

Wooden Racquet Social, June 23.  The CCTA will be hosting its second annual Wooden Racquet Tennis Event June 23rd from 1:30-3:30.  Dust off your old wooden racquet  or borrow one of ours and get ready to step back in time.  Check out our website to see if you are up to challenging our defending champions and then register for the event.
