Super Beginner Anishinaabemowin (Ojibwe Language) Learning Series July 10, 17, 24 | Noon-1pm | At CCHE
Attend this series to be introduced to the language basics and the terms used for explaining word classes and how the word classes interact with each other. This series is for those new to the language or those seeking a super basic refresher. We welcome you to bring questions about language and culture! We are excited to be able to offer this series in person! “Anishinaabemowin (also called Ojibwemowin, the Ojibwe/Ojibwa language, or Chippewa) is an Indigenous language, with a strong concentration around the Great Lakes."
Anishinaabemowin and Culture Instructor: Michael Zimmerman Jr. is an enrolled member of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians of Michigan and Indiana. He has formerly worked as their Tribal Historic Preservation Officer, Tribal Historian, lead Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act consultant, a teacher at the Ojibwe Language and Culture Instructor at the Indian Community School of Milwaukee, consultant of the Potawatomi language for his band and Forest County as well as a language instructor at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. He will be teaching Ojibwe at ISD 166 in Cook County in the fall of 2023.
