Part of the Northern Landscapes Festival at North House Folk School
The mysterious call of the loon is a sure sign of summer in the north. Non-game Biologist Kevin Woizeschke will discuss the lives and habitat of these birds that are a recognized feature of Minnesota's landscape. Learn about the latest technology that scientists use to track these magnificent birds and observe their travels. We’ll discuss research that continues to provide new knowledge and insights into the biology and behaviors of the Common Loon. We’ll also cover challenges loons have and explain ways the DNR and its research partners are working together to help increase populations.
