WTIP North Shore Community Radio has launched the Scenic Route Music Series featuring a seasonal lineup of music shows in 2026 and 2027. This new WTIP initiative will host Blues/R&B guitarist Charlie Parr on Saturday, September 12th at 6:30 pm at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts in Grand Marais. Local instrumentalist Adam Kirsch will open with a short set. Admission is free. Reservations are required due to limited seating. To reserve tickets, please visit the Scenic Route Music Series page under “Events” at wtip.org.
Music Director Will Moore confirmed that “Live music has always been an important part of what we do – from on-air performances in the studio, to live shows in the community.” Past projects organized by the station include the Radio Waves Music Festival, which ended an 18-year run in 2025. Moore added, “We look forward to showcasing the amazing talents of local and regional musicians in a new way, all throughout the year.”
The new series is built on partnerships with the North Shore Music Association, North House Folk School, Visit Cook County, and local venues in Cook County. Shows planned in collaboration include the Dockside Sessions at North House Folk School, August 5, 12, and 19, and a return of the multi-media group Bizhiki, October 9th and 10th. WTIP Executive Director Matthew Brown said that “this alliance with other organizations and music venues will help WTIP increase access to the arts and local music in our community, in a way that benefits all.”
The series is named for the Scenic Route radio program that airs every Friday from 4 to 5 p.m. and features interviews, live performances and event news focused on local and Minnesota-based musicians.
WTIP is an independent, community station that serves the North Shore of Lake Superior. To listen to the award-winning features and learn more about WTIP’s efforts, visit wtip.org.
