Monday looked like it was going to be a nice sunrise so I went to the Cutface wayside to photograph it. Turned out to be one of the best sunrises and largest sun pillars I’ve seen all year. Skim ice had formed over Lake Superior so everything was reflected in the lake. Sun pillars form when sunlight reflects off the surfaces of tiny ice crystals drifting in the atmosphere.
