Senator Grant Hauschild (DFL-Hermantown) is introducing legislation this week expanding outdoor recreational opportunities for Minnesota’s children and seniors.

“Enjoying the outdoors and all the recreational opportunities they have to offer should be available to everyone, but especially to Minnesota’s children and seniors,” said Sen. Hauschild. “That’s why we should give our children and seniors more chances to take advantage of these opportunities. This legislation will help all of Minnesota’s youth and our senior outdoorsmen and women enjoy the outdoors.”

Sen. Hauschild introduced two bills expanding outdoor recreational opportunities for children and seniors. The first, SF 3889, would extend Youth Waterfowl Hunting Days to two consecutive weekends a year, up from only one weekend a year.

The second bill, SF 3890, would allow any Minnesotan 65 and over to receive a permanent fishing license, an annual deer by firearms or archer license, and an annual small game license for free.

Both bills were introduced on Thursday, February 26 and were referred to the Environment, Climate, and Legacy Committee.
