A Boreal Community Media Exclusive - November 15, 2025

Sandi is the owner of Terra Bella Floral and Grand Marais DMV.

You recently announced that your flower shop (Terra Bella) will be closing.  Will you share how you got started in that business?  If someone is interested in buying your business, what do they need to know?
It wasn’t anything fancy!  I saw it for sale on Boreal, actually. I figured how hard could it be??? Flowers are beautiful!  I had never put a flower in a vase before! Some say I am a little crazy! So, I read a few books and the prior owner gave me a 3-week crash course and here we are now 16 years later! If they are interested in buying Terra Bella, just come in and talk to me!  I will be closing permanently on December 31, 2025.

In ten words or less, how would your friends describe you?
I couldn’t decide, so I did a poll.  These are the words that my close friends and family came up with: amazing, courageous, above and beyond, beautiful, smart, helpful, talented, patient, strange, funny, a few fries short of a happy meal, laughter gets me through things, kind, caring, giving, happy, upbeat, real, valuable, true inside and out.

Where is your favorite spot for a day of fun and relaxation in the county?
In a boat on a lake or cruising the back roads!

Are there any family traditions that you were raised with that you still practice today with your own family?
Not really any traditions.  We make a giant meal and do what we can to be together as a family.  Friends are always welcome as well.

What is a surprising fact about you that many may not know?
I am scared of chickens and bats and I can’t sew!

If you could be reincarnated, who or what would you choose to be next?
I would definitely want to be a little dog with an owner just like me so I could be spoiled rotten!
