The upcoming
Ruby's Pantry food distribution on October 14 will take place at a new location, relocating from the Community Center to Great Expectations School (GES), to accommodate the local curling club's use of the Community Center arena. GES will serve as the distribution site for the duration of the winter months. Additional details will be shared once they are available.

Volunteers are needed
between 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., for any duration of time (arriving no earlier than 3:30 p.m. to ensure that students and buses have cleared the area).

Help is needed with:

-Packing: 3:30 p.m. until packing is completed. This includes unpacking items from the delivery truck, verifying the items received against the manifest, placing individual food items on designated tables, and then packing them into bags or boxes for staging.

-Loading/Distribution: 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. or until distribution concludes. Volunteers will use the provided wagons to load the packed food and transport it to the line of waiting vehicles for distribution.

For more information or to sign up to volunteer, contact Volunteer Coordinator Carol Stender at [email protected]

Ruby's Pantry is a program that distributes food to anyone who eats on the second Tuesday of each month. Food shares are sold to community members for $25 a share, but vouchers are available to redeem for a free share from the Grand Marais Food Shelf, WIC office, Cook County Public Health Office, and Grand Portage.
