Connecting Caregivers | Wednesday, October 1 | 1:00pm | The Hub
Meet with others who share the caregiving journey for a cup of coffee, a moment of rest, and the gift of connection. Led by Care Partners volunteers Kathy Reeves and Kay Costello, this group will gather at 1pm on the first Wednesday of each month at The Hub. Come when you can and be encouraged by those who understand the joys and challenges of caring for older friends or family members near or far. No preregistration is needed - just stop by!
Reframe Aging Monthly Roundtable | Thursday, October 2 | 4:30-6pm | Cook County Higher Education (CCHE)
Drop in the first Thursday of each month from 4:30-6pm to discuss our book of the month, or simply for lively, thoughtful conversation about aging! Discussion will be led by CarePartners staff members Julie Wilson and Christie John. Grief Group | Monday, October 13 & 27 | 6:30-8pm | Johnson Heritage Post
Grief is not a disease or a sign of weakness. It is a normal reaction to the loss of someone you had a relationship with, whether complicated or easy. Join others who are on the journey of grief for conversation and mutual support on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month at Johnson Heritage Post from 6:30-8:00pm. The gatherings will be facilitated by Care Partners’ Maggie Anderson. No pre-registration is required, drop in whenever you’d like. Learn more here.
“Get Your Ducks in a Row” Community Advanced Planning Workshop | Wednesday, October 15 | 2:30 – 4:30pm | The Hub
Care Partners is proud to be a supporting partner for this free community workshop hosted by Justice North and the Arrowhead Area Agency on Aging! Kristin Parendo, lead elder law attorney with Justice North, will help you learn everything you need to know about securing your future through proper legal and medical planning in this comprehensive session. You’ll understand the essentials of advance directives, receive all necessary forms, get guidance on completing your documents, and have access to notary services. This interactive workshop provides a supportive environment where you can ask questions, work on your documents, and leave with completed documents. Space is limited – reserve your spot today!
Memory Café | Thursday, September 18 | 1:00-2:30pm | The Hub
The Memory Café meets on the third Thursdays of each month through October, from 1-2:30pm at The Hub. A Memory Café is a free, casual gathering where people with memory loss and the family or friends who care for them can come together in a safe, supportive, relaxed environment. Each month also features a guest from the community who stops by and visits about their hobby, art, or area of interest or expertise. For our final cafe of the season, we are excited to welcome our friends from Historic Cook County who will share photos and stories of our county's amazing past. No pre-registration is required for the Memory Café - feel free to just drop in!
October Lunch & Learn: Preventing Fraud & Scams | Wednesday, October 22 | noon-1pm | CCHE or Zoom
In October we welcome our friends from Minnesota Aging Pathways (formerly the Senior Linkage Line.) Fraud and scams are on the rise, with some scammers specifically targeting older adults. But there are ways you can protect yourself and your personal information. This presentation includes information about fraud prevention, and you’ll learn how to detect and report fraud and scams, so you can keep your personal information and yourself safe. Fall Chore Days | Friday & Saturday, October 24th & 25th
Connecting volunteers with Cook County older adult neighbors to help with fall chores such as raking leaves, cleaning/moving patio furniture, and general yard cleanup! Contact Care Partners by October 10th to:

High dose flu shot (ages 65 and older) $100.00. COVID-19 $124.00-$181.00 depending on the vaccine type. The clinic always recommends that you call your insurance company to confirm coverage of your seasonal vaccines.

Janis Fairbanks discusses and reads from "Sugar Bush Babies: Stories of My Grandmother," her debut memoir of lessons learned from an Ojibwe grandmother during the time of Relocation. A Better Death LLC presents
"End of Life Doulas – Midwives to the Dying" | Thursday, October 23 | Noon-1pm | CCHE & Zoom
This free session, presented by Cook County Death Doulas Pat Campanaro and Suzanne Sherman from A Better Death LLC, will provide an overview of the vital role that Death Doulas can play in the end-of-life journey. Attendees are welcome to bring their own brown bag lunch - water and tea will be provided. The class also serves as an introduction to a 5-part series regarding end-of-life issues that will be presented by A Better Death and Cook County Higher Education monthly on Thursdays from November 2025 through March 2026. Sessions will explore topics such as the dying process, palliative care, legal considerations, burial options, end-of-life celebrations and more. Age-Friendly Minnesota and Arrowhead Area Agency on Aging present a regional exchange to connect with communities, celebrate the age-friendly movement, and discuss opportunities ahead. Join us to learn and share what's happening in our region! Highlights include a regional showcase of Age-Friendly efforts, panel discussion with elected officials and regional leaders, and more. Grand Marais American Legion Post 413 Women’s Auxiliary is proud to sponsor free lunches for all veterans (regardless of age) Monday through Friday during the month of November at The Hub! Lunches can be dine-in or takeout, but they must be ordered in advance by calling The Hub at 218-387-2660 no later than 9:30am on the day the meal is served.
