The Superior Hiking Trail Association (SHTA) has released a brand-new pair of educational videos designed to teach hikers about Leave No Trace principles—with a twist of humor and a visit from the North Shore’s most elusive resident: Bigfoot.

Created in collaboration with the SHTA and videographer Marty Anderson, the videos combine lighthearted storytelling with important reminders on how to protect the Trail. The Bigfoot-themed videos highlight topics such as proper human waste disposal on the trail, litter disposal, and more. By blending humor with actionable tips, the Association aims to make Leave No Trace both memorable and accessible to hikers of all ages.

“The SHTA team put together a video that not only gets to the point of a trail etiquette problem but also is fun to watch.  Leave no trace should always be an important part of your hike,” said Martin Anderson, SHTA volunteer and videographer for this project.

The videos are available now on the Superior Hiking Trail Association’s website, superiorhiking.org, and social media channels (or listed below).

The Superior Hiking Trail is a 300-mile footpath that stretches from the Wisconsin border to the Canadian border, offering stunning views of Lake Superior, dense Northwoods, and rugged ridgelines. Caring for this beloved Trail is a community effort, and Leave No Trace practices are a vital part of keeping it healthy for generations to come.

The Superior Hiking Trail Association is a proud partner of Leave No Trace.
