Join this year’s honorary Artist in Residence: Alan Nyiri as he talks about his extensive volunteer experience with the National Park Service and his summer spent creating photographic art here in Grand Portage.

Alan Nyiri is a nationally recognized photographer and artist. In 2014, Nyiri and his wife Angele, a college professor, “retired” to start their new careers as volunteers in the National Parks and Wildlife Refuges around the country. In addition to providing sorely needed service to these conservation organizations, this gives Nyiri the opportunity to live and photograph in some of America’s most compelling landscapes.
