CO Sean Williams (Ely #1) reports: angling activity slowed over the week and more recreational boating traffic was observed through the weekend. Minimal ATV was also noted with only a handful of machines being seen on local trails. He attended Elys first National Night out along with Ely Police, Breitung Police, St. Louis County Deputies, and USBP, the event was very well attended by the public.
CO Brent Ihnen (Ely 2) spent the week checking fishermen and watercraft operators. Officer Ihnen also patrolled for ATV, OHM, and ORV activity. AIS checks were also completed at area public water accesses.
CO Hudson Ledeen (Hovland) reports a busy weekend in the Northwoods. Many folks were out riding ATVs and paddling canoes. Nuisance animal calls were fielded along with questions about the upcoming bear hunting season.
CO Anthony Bermel (Babbitt) instructed during hunting week of the academy. Time was spent patrolling local ATV trails. Enforcement action was taken for no non-resident ATV trail pass and no ATV safety certificate.
CO Megan Franzen (Silver Bay) spent the week monitoring angling and ATV activity around the area. Time was also spent preparing for an upcoming firearm safety class. Enforcement action was taken for ATV related violations.
CO Trent Anderson (Tofte) attending an annual regional meeting. Some time was spent working on inventory and picking up equipment at the regional office. Field work involving ATV enforcement and working area lakes.
CO Cassie Block (Two Harbors) Spent time this week checking anglers on area lakes. Block and K9 Jet focused efforts on AIS enforcement. Time was also spent responding to various complaints.
