The Cook County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a bomb threat that was reported at approximately 10:30 a.m. on June 15, 2024. The threat was directed to attendees of the Pride Event being held in Grand Marais. The Cook County Sheriff’s Office responded immediately upon receiving the call and conducted a precautionary sweep which yielded negative results. The Minnesota Duty Officer was notified and directed investigators to the Crow Wing County Bomb Squad. After consultation, it was determined that responding deputies did everything that the bomb squad would have done. The Cook County Sheriff’s Office would like to inform everyone that after our investigation on scene, it was determined there is no indication of an active threat or harm to anyone.

An investigation is being conducted by the Cook County Sheriff’s Office under the direction of Sheriff Pat Eliasen. No other information is available at this time as the matter is still under active investigation.

“We are taking this threat very seriously and will pour every resource we can into finding the source. Safety for all people in Cook County is our main focus.”
