Local Girl Scout Brownie Troop 4070 has recently completed their "pet care" badge and received some special visitors to their meeting: Arrowhead Animal Rescue members and three adorable kittens!

The troop of local 7 and 8-year-olds is led by Terri Poe and Gwen Danfelt.

"The girls are all animal lovers and pet owners, and they had questions about animal rescue in Cook County and asked if we could visit an animal shelter. We learned from Arrowhead Animal Rescue (AAR) that there are committed volunteers taking care of animals in our community, and they are raising funds for a new animal shelter. The girls decided to donate some of their cookie money to AAR! They learned all about animal rescue and got to cuddle some cute kittens who are currently awaiting adoption," said Danfelt.

Besides donating money the girls made from selling Girl Scout cookies, several girls brought in some of their own allowance to donate to the cause. Girl Scout Troop 4070 encourages all community members to donate to AAR, so we can have a new safe place for animals in Grand Marais. Donation buckets are available at stores around town, and a gofundme page is accessible through AAR's Facebook page.
