Today, Southwest winds are expected to increase and become westerly in the late afternoon and evening.
A Gale Warning has been issued for this afternoon and evening from Two Harbors to Duluth and from Duluth to the Apostle Islands due to the potential for gusts of 35 knots.
Small Craft Advisories are in effect elsewhere, for 25 to 30 knots gusts. Wave heights are also expected to build today, reaching heights of 5 to 7 feet for portions of the North Shore and western Bayfield Peninsula. Waves up to 10 feet may be possible in the Outer Apostle Islands and open waters of western Lake Superior today.
Elevated winds and waves continue tomorrow, which will likely necessitate additional Small Craft Advisories and possible Gale Warnings.
