On Saturday, June 17, 2023, The Hub/Grand Marais Community Center hosted a pancake breakfast to raise money for the organization's operating costs which are not usually covered by grants and other funds.
Recently, The Hub received an offer for a $5000.00 donation match from a generous donor, so any donation received is doubled.
Chris Bautch, Program and Activities Director at The Hub, told Boreal Community Media that the pancake breakfast "Went really well."
The organization ended up raising $1681.00 at the fundraiser, and 145 community members got to enjoy fellowship and a hearty breakfast.
In addition to the breakfast, there was a station for kids and adults to make cards. Being that the breakfast happened on Father's Day weekend, it was a great opportunity for community members to create something for the father-figure in their lives.
"It was fun seeing people enjoying themselves visiting with others and watching the kids get involved making Father's Day cards," she said.
