National Weather Service issues Gale Warning for Cook County and Grand Portage

From the National Weather Service - March 16, 2023
The National Weather Service has issued a Gale Warning for the North Shore starting at 9 pm Thursday, March 16 until 3 pm Saturday morning for Grand Portage to Taconite Harbor, including Grand Marais.
According to the Warning, north winds can be expected to reach 20 - 25 kt, increasing to gusts of 40 knots. Waves are expected to be between 2-5 feet, elevating between 4-7 feet.
Freezing spray may also occur.
Impacts include strong winds and hazardous waves, which can capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.
The NWS recommends that mariners should alter plans to avoid these hazardous conditions. Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure the vessel for severe conditions.
