The "Christmas Blizzard of 2022" is one that most people along the north shore won't forget any time soon.

The National Weather Service - Duluth shared that an almost record-breaking 74 mph wind gust was observed in Grand Marais Harbor on Friday, December 23, and in Little Marias, 82 mph.

Unfortunately, the wind has caused widespread power outages, down trees, and damage to buildings, including The Beaver House, South of the Border Cafe, and Moose Tracks in downtown Grand Marais.

Boreal Community Media's own Laura Durenberger-Grunow captured some of the damages around Grand Marais as shown below.

Boreal Community Media wishes to give a major thanks to all those who have been working tirelessly in this weather to help keep the power on and residents and visitors safe.

The Beaver House and Moose Tracks were just two businesses in downtown Grand Marais that sustained roof damage.
