Bayfield County officials say a logging truck driver died in an accident Monday morning.

Around 9:53am, the Bayfield County Sheriff's Office responded to an overturned logging truck on Ondossagon Road, in Washburn Township.

The truck was going southbound carrying timber logs. According to authorities, tire marks along the roadway show the driver went off the shoulder and attempted to drive back onto the road before overturning. Details have not been released about what led up to the accident.

The driver was found unresponsive inside the cab. He was removed by Sheriff's deputies, EMS/paramedics, and a nearby resident. After unsuccessful life-saving efforts, the driver was pronounced dead.

His name has not yet been released. This crash remains under investigation.
