Being infamously nice has its advantages. The land of Minnesota Nice becomes a place, no matter where you go, you’ll always find a friendly face. There are many cities and towns across the state where you can easily experience this firsthand. But one, in particular, may stand out above the rest in terms of friendliness. Grand Marais, Minnesota, is a go-to spot for those looking for welcoming locals and community spirit with a good dose of natural beauty. Read on below to learn more about Grand Marais, Minnesota, and why we think it’s the friendliest town in the state.

Grand Marais is a small town on Minnesota's North Shore. Around 1,300 people make their homes in this community right on the edge of Lake Superior. Thanks to its beauty, amenities, and events, we believe this might be the friendliest town in Minnesota.

When you take a look at the natural scenery, it's easy to see why people here can't stop smiling. Stunning views of Lake Superior and the rolling hills and rugged rocks that surround it add up to a spectacular landscape. Popular spots like Artists Point only scratch the surface of the town's beauty.

Grand Marais is full of activity. Sailboats and fishing boats can often be spotted on the water. If you're so inclined, you could even take a ride around the lake yourself! Many visitors bring boats or kayaks to enjoy Lake Superior up close.

In town, there's plenty to see and do. Many of the local shops have become Grand Marais landmarks. You can find locals and tourists alike shopping there. Because Grand Marais is a fishing town, much of the town's local culture is centered on the bait shop.

There are also plenty of places to gather for a meal. Just about anywhere in town, you'll find friendly servers there to welcome you with a smile. It's not hard to enjoy a meal with such a great service - and such great views!
