Topic of the Month: The Flu & COVID-19

From Sawtooth Mountain Clinic and Cook County Public Health and Human Services - September 1, 2020

Every year, like clockwork, the unwelcome guest named “Influenza” shows up on our doorstep.  We’ve already got a visitor that has long overstayed their welcome - COVID-19.

At times COVID is invisible, jumping quickly from host to host but leaving little evidence of its infectious passing. Sometimes it leaves behind small signs: a sniffle, a tickle in the throat. At other times though, COVID-19 signals its arrival by causing fever, chills, muscle aches, sore throat, cough, and fatigue.

Unfortunately, those are also the symptoms of the flu.

September's Topic of the Month covers:

  • how the flu shot can keep you from needing COVID-19 testing,
  • how the shot can protect you, even if it's not a perfect match for the virus,
  • who shouldn't get the vaccine, and why most everyone else should,
  • where to find information on the difference between allergies, colds, the flu, and COVID-19.

To learn more, read this month's newsletter or watch the video version.

Remember - we have a
whole library of newsletters that cover topics from "sleep hygiene" to "the dark side of clean eating" and a whole lot more.
