The Grand Marais Lions Club voted to cancel the Fisherman’s Picnic for 2020. Last year was our 90th year and it was a sad and tough decision to make. After talking with City and County representatives the decision was made. So much goes into setting up and getting ready for the Picnic that has to be done now and in the next months leading up to the event that we felt in fairness to all we had to make a decision at this time. We are hopeful that as more facts and knowledge about COVID-19 come out; that we can set up some type of events that people can safely participate.

We are also aware that the community will need more support than ever and are looking at ways to serve the community and offer that support. Abandoning the community is not our purpose in shutting down the Picnic. Hang with us, offer suggestions and be ready if we send out a call for volunteers. The original Picnic was just that a picnic on the beach maybe simpler times are ahead.
