The entire globe has been challenged due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Let’s get that right out
there. And it’s no different here in northern Minnesota. Governor Tim Walz recently extended
his stay-at-home order until May 18, 2020. With that being said, Cascade Vacation Rentals is
introducing a best practice as they welcome guests back to the North Shore once the
Governor’s stay-at-home executive order expires.

Cascade Vacation Rentals (CVR) owners Mike Larson and Steve Surbaugh and their dedicated
staff have been preparing to reopen over the last month. In the best interest of their guests,
their staff, and the entire North Shore community, and as best practice, CVR is asking their
guests to bring linens on their upcoming visits.

“We want to be smart about this,” Larson said of reopening CVR properties as soon as the
recent stay-at-home executive order expires. “We are excited to welcome our guests back and
we want them to feel confident with this practice without compromising their experience. And I
believe they will.”

Widely recognized as the premier short-term rental company in Minnesota, CVR has invested a
significant amount of time and capital since they closed in mid-March researching and
purchasing the most up-to-date protective and comfortable bed mattress covers available.
When CVR guests arrive, they will find a clean, completely sanitized modern protective mattressand pillow covers awaiting their linens. All they have to do is put on their linens and they are set.

CVR staff person Jaye White scripted and created a video showing guests what they can expect upon arrival. You can view the video at https://youtu.be/drffHu3G6Pc. or at the end of this article.

In addition, and with guidance provided by CDC and our own Minnesota Department of Health,
CVR has sourced the highest grade cleaning products available for disinfecting and sanitizing
everything from countertops, remotes, flooring, light switches and more combined with
developing and implementing best practices for our housekeeping staff and overall cleaning
protocol. All other amenities and everything our guests have come to know and love about a
CVR remains the same.

A fun idea the CVR team is pitching to their guests is for them to consider bringing sleeping
bags, particularly families with kids, during their vacation stay.

“There’s no easier way to set up and repack than this option!” Surbaugh said. “With this new
approach and as CVR continues to navigate these challenging times, sometimes having all the
comforts of home can make a vacation even more relaxing.”

After listening to the governor’s recent press conferences, Larson and Surbaugh took a harder
look at best practices that are considerate of visitors and the local community and designed this new program.

“We hope that these efforts, and efforts being made by all in Minnesotans, will keep us healthy
this spring and summer and fall,” Surbaugh said.

Cascade Vacation Rentals offers a wide selection of privately owned vacation homes, cabins,
and condos along the North Shore of Lake Superior and inland lakes in both Lake and Cook
Counties in Minnesota.
