Lutsen Community Conversation Continues…

Gitchi Gami Trail Corridor Improvements

Lutsen community members recently met with landscape architect C.J. Fernandez and community planner Justin Otsea to create designs for Gitchi Gami trail corridor improvements.  Trail corridor improvements are proposed for the area between the Gitchi Gami bridge over the Poplar River near the base of Ski Hill Road and the Post Office.

The DNR will build the Gitchi Gami trail.  The Lutsen community will need to decide what improvements will be built along the trail corridor. 

Cook County/Grand Marais EDA executive director Mary Somnis has offered to facilitate the next steps in the community process.  We need to identify exactly what the community wants to accomplish and how to get that done. This is an economic development opportunity and it is appropriate that the EDA can assist.
