Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse - Fishing Without Hooks

Jun 17, 2019 10:14AM ● By Editor

Media Release from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources - June 17, 2019

Registration Required

You're stranded, hungry, and getting desperate. In this Land of 10,000 Lakes there is a good chance that fish-filled waters are nearby. Now, how to catch them without a graphite rod and expensive tackle?

In this program we'll explore and try out some alternative methods for catching fish to eat. We'll spend the day at Tettegouche Camp, on Mic Mac Lake, making some fishing gear then catching fish (hopefully!). If we are successful we may even indulge in a little shore lunch

Participants will need to bring a sharp knife, clothing for the weather, a lunch and a water bottle. Come prepared for any weather conditions as this program will occur, rain or shine.

Meet the Park Naturalist at the parking lot on Lax Lake Road on the northern edge of the park at 9am. We will hike the 1.7 miles into Tettegouche Camp. A Minnesota fishing license is not required for Minnesota residents to fish on Mic Mac Lake.

PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED AND THIS COURSE IS LIMITED TO 10 PARTICIPANTS! Send an email to [email protected] to register.
