Minnesota: North Shore All-American Scenic Drive
Road trips are a favorite American pastime, with one in four Americans taking a road trip every year, according to the AAA. So, as the weather warms and as the first day of summer approaches, here are some of the best road trips that can be taken in every state, from Alabama to Wyoming.

Some of the most impressive road trips run along the coasts of the country, such as State Route 1 in California. This road hugs the stunning Pacific coast, giving roadtrippers the opportunity to see such beautiful sights as Big Sur and Morro Bay. In Rhode Island, beach-lovers should follow US 1 from Narragansett along the Atlantic Coast to Westerly, where there are numerous, beautiful beaches to explore.
In Minnesota, drivers should follow the “All-American Road” up the North Shore of Lake Superior, a route that passes through seven state parks and features such memorable stops as Split Rock Lighthouse. Hikers can also park along the way to hike the Superior Hiking Trail and take in the views of north shore wilderness.
Another unforgettable road trip is to drive the Chinook Pass in Washington, which runs from the rolling fields of Enumclaw to the Naches Valley. Along the way, the road wraps along the northeastern flank of Mount Rainier, offering breathtaking views of this mountain. Visitors can also stop along the way to go hiking, as there are a number of hiking trails of varying degrees of difficulty.
