June 27, 2017 – The cause of death for Jon Mathson, 41 of Eagan, MN, has been confirmed by the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office and released to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.

Mathson collapsed and died while running the 25KM race on Saturday, May 20. The cause of his death has been identified as natural cardiac arrest during exertion due to atherosclerotic coronary artery disease. He had no known medical history.

 Mathson was a three-time Superior Trail Race finisher.
