In what is an unfortunate trend this winter, the abnormally warm weather and lack of snow has caused another cancellation. The Pincushion Winter Ski Festival, set to take place on Sunday, February 18, 2024, has been cancelled.

In a Facebook post on February 9, 2024have, the Pincushion Ski and Run Club posted their regular ski condition update, with a note that said "Due to current conditions and lack of snow in the forecast, we've cancelled the Pincushion Winter Festival Ski Races that were scheduled for February 18. Participants who pre-registered will be offered a full refund."

Due to recent temperatures in the upper 30s and lower 40s, along with rain, the trail conditions are extremely poor.

This event cancellation comes after a list of others this season, including the
Gunflint Mail RunJohn Beargrease Marathon, the Grand Marais Pond Hockey TournamentCook County youth and ECFE skating activities, and more.
