Once again, this Veterans Day, the National Association of Counties (NACo) and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers (NACVSO) invite the nation’s 3,069 counties, parishes, and boroughs to join Operation Green Light and show support for veterans by lighting our buildings green from November 6-12.

At the October 24 Board of Commissioners meeting, the Cook County Board passed a resolution recognizing November 11 as Veterans Day, and also encouraging residents to honor the sacrifices of our servicemen and women by displaying green lights in the windows of homes and businesses during Operation Green Light.

By shining a green light, we will let veterans know that they are seen, appreciated, and supported. You can join in by changing one light bulb in the entryway of your house or business to a green bulb.

Need a green light?

A message from Karen Christianson, Cook County Veteran Services Officer:

If you would like a green light bulb for your business, please let Karen know and she will provide you with one. She currently has 30 bulbs on hand.

If you would like one for your home let Karen know by November 2 and she will place an order for more. Thank you for supporting our Veterans!
