Most of the trees in Cook County, Minnesota are at 50-75% peak color as we head into the weekend, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

Unofficial reports share that most of the maples are past peak, but the aspens, birch, and other trees are beginning their journey from green to yellow/orange.

A common question asked is what the best trail is to see the fall colors. While Mt. Oberg is always a popular one this time of year, it can get incredibly busy. North Shore Visitor has some great recommendations for drives and hikes around the North Shore area.

If it seems like the leaves are changing colors fast this year, you're right. Drought, heat, and other stressors are causing trees to change quicker versus in 2022.
