A lack of recent rainfall has allowed drought to continue to spread and degrade across the Northland. Despite several rounds of rain and thunderstorms, July was a dry month for most and led to a widespread increase in drought conditions.
Cook County and most of Lake County are under a moderate drought, which may affect crops and some streams, wells, or other water reservoirs.
If you are experiencing drought impacts, you can submit a condition monitoring report to the National Weather Service. These reports are used by authors of the drought monitor and provide on-the-ground information to help the organization better understand local conditions.
