Gunflint Trail RAISE Grant Update

Jun 29, 2023 09:06AM ● By Editor

June 28, 2023 – The Cook County MN Highway Department announced an update on their solicitation for an IIJA RAISE Grant for the Gunflint Trail Improvement Project. There were four projects selected in Minnesota and Cook County was not one of them.

In January, the second of two well-attended Visioning Sessions were held with the community to present a draft and solicit public input on the project.

“I appreciate all the input and engagement we had from the community regarding this opportunity, and it really shows how passionate people were about it,” said Robbie Hass, Cook County Engineer. “Next steps for us will be to break up our big project into smaller projects and find funding for those.”
