It was a close finish in the 2022 Grandma's Marathon Wheelchair men's division, with Aaron Pike beating Johnboy Smith by three seconds.

From Park Rapids, MN, this is Pike's fourth time winning Grandma's, finishing this year with an unofficial time of 1:20:02. Smith was right behind, finishing with a time of 1:20:05.

This is Pike's fourth ever win at the marathon, his last victory was in 2019.

"It is one of those ones you just go fast and we made a quick pack, let's not go tacticle lets just both go hard. Towards the end it just gets tricky, you get lulled to sleep because this perfect road next to the lake. At the very end its a lot of winding turns, dodging half marathoners, so there is a lot of action at the end. Tons of excitment to with the people cheering loud, I couldn't here anthing when I was coming down this last strech," said Pike at the finish line.

On the women's side, Susanna Scaroni secures another win in her history of Grandma's marathons. She also won in 2014, 2018, and 2019.

"Every race is so hard because I love to go as hard as I possibly can that day. So to come across, especially on a fast day for me  so it feels like such a reward," said Scaroni.

Her 2019 finish time was 1:30:42. This year's finish will earn her a new personal record, with 1:27:31.
