A teenager from Brooklyn Park, missing for more than a week, was found safe in Detroit, according to Brooklyn Park police and Michigan State Patrol.

The man she was with was arrested for deprivation of parental rights and is expected to be extradited back to Minnesota.

Sixteen-year-old Jymirah Chatman had last been seen on Dec. 19 around 11 p.m. Her mother said the Brooklyn Park teen has a history of mental health issues.

Brooklyn Park Police said Chatman left a note indicating she was leaving but would return. Investigators looking at the case determined that at 4 a.m. on Dec. 20 she was a passenger in a blue 2002 Toyota Camry that was involved in a single-car crash on I-94 near Mauston, Wisconsin. Police who responded say the teen was with a 32-year-old man from Detroit, Michigan.
