An Ely restaurant is helping feed hundreds of firefighters in the area.

Brittons Café posted a sign on their door this week saying they would be closed to the public.

Instead, they have been focused on making meals for crews on the frontlines.

Bonnie Jacobson, who owns the restaurant, says she and her team also stepped up to help feed firefighters during the Pagami Creek Fire ten years ago.

About nine people have been helping her serve more than 350 lunches and dinners each day.

The Greenwood Fire, which is 0% contained, has now overtaken 9,062 acres between Isabella and Ely, adding about 800 acres overnight when a cold front moved in.

According to Superior National Forest officials, 320 people are now involved in the firefight, many of them traveling in from other parts of the country.

Brittons Café is financially compensated for the meals by the U.S. Forest Service.
