Update on the Grand Marais Arts Festival 2021

May 14, 2021 09:13AM ● By Editor
From the Grand Marais Art Colony - May 14, 2021

The Grand Marais Arts Festival is a much-loved event by artists and visitors alike and, given Governor Walz's announcement on May 6, we are able to host a Festival that will run very similarly to past events.

We have worked closely with our public health officials and will continue to stay abreast of current COVD-19 guidelines up until the event dates. We take the COVID-19 pandemic seriously and should guidelines change or the event need to be cancelled we will communicate those decisions at the earliest possible opportunity.

In order to make this year’s Festival a success, we need the support and participation of not just our Festival artists, staff, and volunteers, but the community as a whole.

CURRENT GUIDELINES TIMELINE

As the Governor's announcement relates to the Grand Marais Arts Festival, we understand that as of the dates of our Festival, July 10 - 11:
  • The statewide masking requirement will have ended although local jurisdictions and organizations may set their own mask policies.
  • Event Preparedness Plans will no longer be necessary/required.
  • Physical distancing requirements will no longer be required.
  • Due to these changes, there is no longer a need to limit occupancy and/or ticket the Festival.
Given the evolving nature of the pandemic our goal is to make any additional direction for visitors available via our event website (linked here) and through our eNewsletter (sign up for here) by June 30. Please sign up for our eNewsletter and visit our event website to receive the most up-to-date information so you can arrive at the Festival prepared.

LOCATION & PARKING
Due to a road construction project in downtown Grand Marais this year, we are relocating to the school parking lots at ISD 166 – 101 W. 5th Street – a short walk up the hill from the harbor.

Event parking will be available in the YMCA (map linked here) and Cook County Community Center (map linked here) parking lots adjacent to ISD 166 and signs will be posted at these two locations. Street parking will also be available.

Please visit the MNDoT site regarding the construction project HERE and learn about the Big Dig project HERE.

We appreciate your patience as we navigate the changing protocols for outdoor events during the pandemic. The safety of our artists, visitors, staff, and volunteers is of utmost importance to us. Thank you for your participation, support, and commitment to this vital community event and for making it a success in 2021!

Sincerely,
Grand Marais Arts Festival Committee
