While virtual graduation ceremonies have been the norm for the past year, ceremonies this year may be able to resemble more of an in-person style. Indoor and outdoor venues will be allowed to have more people starting April 1.

South Ridge senior Gretchen Berglund-Ludwig says there was a time she was wondering if she was going to be able to have a ceremony at all.

"When you're looking at it from the perspective where we were in September, thinking none of this was possible, and just seeing just how dark and gloomy it could get, especially during December and January, it's phenomenal," said Berglund-Ludwig. 

Now that it's on the horizon, she says it's a light at the end of what has been a very dark tunnel.

"To see it not only coming near in the next three months, but also to think, 'hey, this is ours. We're finally getting our moment', it's a little overwhelming but it's also breathtaking," said Berglund-Ludwig. "The fact that we're not only going to probably have a graduation ceremony, but we're going to actually all be together for it, that would be the best thing possible," she added.

South Ridge's graduation ceremony is scheduled for June 4, and Berglund-Ludwig says she is also planning to have a graduation party. As of right now, that will have to be less than 50 people.

Plans for South Ridge's prom are still being determined, but it sounds as though there will at least be a dance.

Berglund-Ludwig's junior prom was canceled last year.
