As many events are cancelled, Norpine Fat Bike Classic organizers are getting creative and reimagining events with fun and safety as a top priority. The event organizers have been working hard with local businesses and trail workers to design a touch-free event that gets riders outdoors and on the trails this year.

“Getting out to ride in the fresh, clean air is exactly what we all need right now” says Thom McAleer of Cascade Lodge “We’re excited to be a host venue. So many plans have been cancelled this year. We’ve been working hard with the organizers of this event to come up with ways to make it possible, safe and fun.”

The Classic will be a bit different this year due to COVID. As an informal “fun ride” in 2021, bikers can sign up to ride either a short (14 mile) or long (20 mile) course anytime between January 23-31, 2021. The $50 registration fee includes a trail fee and membership to the Norpine Trail Association, entry into a prize drawing, a bag lunch from Cascade Lodge, swag and more!

Links to registration and detailed information can be found at VisitCookCounty.com/Norpine.

The Norpine Fat Bike Classic is a major fundraiser for the Superior Cycling Association and the Norpine Trail Association. SCA has built and maintains 35 miles of purpose-built mountain bike trails in Cook County, Minnesota, including the new Jackpot and High Climber trails (which connect Britton Peak trails to Lutsen Mountains).  In addition to this event weekend, the Norpine system is now offering over 20 kilometers of dual use groomed trails for both fat tire bikers and cross country skiers.
