Two men were able to escape unscathed after ATVs fell through thin ice in separate incidents Friday in Douglas and Kandiyohi counties.

The first incident happened just after 2 p.m. on Games Lake in Colfax Township, according to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office. Emergency personnel responded to a report of an ATV that had broken through the ice in the northwest part of the lake.

The sheriff's office later received confirmation that the person who was riding the ATV, a 60-year-old man from Rogers, Minnesota, had climbed out onto the ice and was able to safely return to his cabin.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office said it received a call about an hour later that side-by-side ATV had broken through the ice near Betsy Ross Point on Lake Ida, north of Alexandria.

Nearby fishermen were able to assist Robert Hildebrandt, 94, of Alexandria, from the water unharmed, according to the sheriff's office.
