David Hahn Art Days
Studio 21
Thu, October 17 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm Fri, October 18 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
David Hahn was a beloved community member and artist who passed away in 2022. He attended Washington University School of Fine Arts and the University of Minnesota. David was the Art Director for Miller Publishing. After retiring to Hovland, David focused on watercolor and enjoyed teaching youth classes at the Art Colony as well as working within the public school, creating portrait cards for the Viking athletic teams. His generous memorial gifts support the funding for this event.
Free art stations will be set up for participants to explore four unique, creative activities.
Paint-a-bowl
Come help us paint bowls for the 2024 Empty Bowls Fundraiser! This is an opportunity to get creative with your friends and family while helping to raise funds to fight hunger in Cook County. Participants will use brush-on glazes to paint a bowl that will then be glazed and fired at the Art Colony ceramics studio and donated to the Empty Bowl Soup Dinner Fundraiser on November 14, 2024.
Junk Mail Magnets
Create your own custom refrigerator magnets using junk mail, collage papers, or individual artwork. Participants will assemble their artwork, adhere their unique design to a magnetic sheet, and then cut out the shape they want.
Paint-a-pumpkin
It is fall and definitely pumpkin-time! We will have wooden pumpkins and a lot of acrylic paint at the ready. Decorate away! In partnership with Hungry Hippie Taco.
Suminagashi
Suminagashi, or “floating ink,” is the process of marbling plain paper with water and ink to transform it into a vibrant and colorful design. It originated in Japan as early as the 12th century. Create your own unique print and learn more about this art form.
Youth 8 and younger must be accompanied by an adult
