Modern Western Square Dance is similar to, but different from traditional square dance that you might do at a contra dance.  You don't learn routines, you learn calls, and lessons are needed to learn the calls.  I will be giving lessons for eight weeks beginning Thursday, February 16 from 7:30 to 9:00 PM at the Cook County Community Center 4H building.  After completing the course, you will know approximately 30 calls and can join a more experienced group that dances Wednesday night.  Ultimately I would like everyone to be dancing with 50 calls.  Cost by donation.  You do not need to bring a partner.  No fancy dress or footwork needed.  Contact John Mattice at 218-877-7654 or [email protected] for more information.
