Bally Blacksmith Shop - Open!
Come inside and step back in time!
Three generations of the Bally family worked as blacksmiths. Sam Bally, whose skills were crucial to the lumber industry, arrived in 1903 to work for a sawmill. In 1911, he started his own business and built the long-standing Bally Blacksmith Shop that was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.
Stop in and tour the blacksmith and metal shops - and trace Cook County's economic history from the 1900-2000. Artifacts from horse shoeing tools, logging equipment, woodstoves, welders, turn-of-the-century shop equipment, vehicles, and much more to learn from!
