Recycling in Cook County, MN June 28 | 6pm-7pm | FREE | Zoom
The average American disposes of 4.5lbs of trash a day. That's an estimated average of 12 tons of garbage created every day in Cook County which needs to be transported 120 miles to landfills or recycling centers. The good news, you can make a difference.
Join Zero Waste Cook County educator, Kristina Mattson for an evening to learn simple, fun, and practical ways to take charge of your household waste and optimize your recycling. Course topics: * Waste prevention and thoughtful consumption * Local recycling process and sorting information * Resources for hard to recycle items.
Kristina Mattson started a recycling program in her apartment building when she was 11 and hasn't stopped engaging her community regarding environmental stewardship and health since! Reducing toxic burdens in our everyday lives is what drives her action now, as a mother of three and former oncology registered nurse. Kristina is also a master recycler composter, integrative health coach, culinary nutrition expert, public health and policy advocate, community/ corporate educator and speaker. In 2017 she co-founded Zero Waste Saint Paul, and in coalition with community stakeholders and elected officials helped pass Saint Paul's Sustainable To-Go Packaging ordinance. Kristina is the co-founder of Zero Waste Cook County and looks forward to bridging waste reduction awareness with action, connection, and education here in Cook County. The presentation is in partnership with Cook County Local Energy Project (CCLEP) https://www.cookcountylocalenergy.org/, Zero Waste Cook County https://www.facebook.com/ZeroWasteCookCounty/ , and Reduce, Reuse, Renew https://reducereuserenewblog.com/ Thank you to Cook County Local Energy project for coordinating this event.
