Within higher education, the Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation (TRHT) effort is being led by a growing number of community-integrated, campus-based centers established in partnership with AAC&U and hosted by colleges and universities across the United States. These TRHT Campus Centers are vital contributors to the continuum of change as colleges prepare the leaders and workforce of the future. With the shared goal of preparing the next generation of leaders and thinkers to address social realities and dismantle the belief in a hierarchy of human value, each campus center uses the TRHT framework to develop its own visionary action plan to promote racial healing through campus-community engagement. Hamline University made a conscious decision to move from a paradigm of merely recognizing social issues, to actually wrestling with them in multiple contexts―classroom settings, campus meetings, and community engagements. Thus, the university is modeling the expectation of not just knowing better, but doing better.

Dr. David Everett will be joining us to share how Hamline’s TRHT work is promoting a level of critical interaction that fosters and furthers understanding of, and across, difference by providing the Hamline community with opportunities to explore, share, and grow.
