During the summer months the Playhouse presents two shows, typically a musical and a farce. The summer repertory is a vital source of income for the Playhouse and has an economic impact on our community as well as being a wonderful opportunity to show off the enormous talent residing in this community. We begin the process of searching for plays that are entertaining for our audiences and challenging for our participants. There are many factors that go into deciding which productions are selected but one very important one is cast size and makeup. We ask people to attend the interest meeting early in the year so shows can be selected that fit the group. The Playhouse casts are open and welcoming to anyone interested in being in a production regardless of experience. All one needs is a desire to work as an ensemble, invest their time and talent and have a lot of fun!! The 2020 summer repertory will run weekends July 18 through Aug 9, 2020. Those in attendance or who contact the Playhouse prior to the meeting will directly influence the selection of shows. The number of people, gender, age and availability for rehearsals are important factors. Musical rehearsals usually begin in April to accommodate the need to learn songs, choreography and text as well as create costumes and have enough stage time to feel comfortable on stage. Comedies usually begin mid May. Both productions typically rehearse Sunday through Thursday evenings. If you have a musical or a comedy that you would like to recommend, please contact the Playhouse.
