The WolfGang Mozart Concert
Sat. June 8, 2019 7:30 PM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, GM
The WolfGang, now in its twenty-third season, presents a year of Haydn and Mozart, including a symphony by each of these masters. Now at the end of our season we present 80’s Music a la Mozart. The program features the amazing A Minor Rondo for fortepiano, a brazenly pirated version of the F Major Oboe Quartet repurposed for flute and strings, and the premier of a new transcription by Paul Jacobson for The WolfGang, the moody and ethereal Symphony No. 40 in G Minor, transformed to a quintet for strings, flute, and fortepiano.
The WolfGang, as the name implies, is a Mozart-era chamber ensemble comprising instrumental virtuosi who perform on late 18th century instruments, including a replica of a Stein fortepiano identical to one that Mozart himself used. We perform music of Mozart Haydn and a number of their contemporaries, obscure and well-known. We strive to make the music of this lively era accessible, fresh, and exciting for our 21st century audiences.
