Open House - Chik-Wauk Museum and Nature Center
New Exhibits - Watercraft Exhibit and Interpretive Cabin
The Gunflint Trail Historical Society likes to celebrate the opening of Chik-Wauk Museum and Nature Center that took place on July 4, 2010 every year.
Sunday, July 7 the Gunflint Trail Historical Society will celebrate two new structures that have been added to the Chik-Wauk property.
It took two years, 20+ volunteer members, countless numbers of hours, to create a beautiful timber framed structure - Watercraft Exhibit Building.
In this building there will be various watercraft, motors, and artifacts that will be on display for visitors to get a glimpse of how the earlier residents of the Gunflint Trail traveled the waterways.
The second structure is an Interpretive Cabin Exhibit Building. The Interpretive Cabin Exhibit is built on the site of one of the old Chik-Wauk Lodge cabins. This exhibit will be furnished as an "American Plan" style cabin. Visitors to Chik-Wauk campus will be able to get a glimpse of how early resorts furnished the cabins with no kitchen or bathroom facilities available to the vacationers.
Join us for the celebration on July 7 from 11 am - 4 pm to include cake and beverages.
Free admission all day long.
