New Orleans-based band The Big Dixie Swingers is committed to reviving the music of America's rural radio stations and stages. Their sound blends old time country and pre-war era pop, spinning it back out as western swing-style dance band numbers. The group has taken this sound up and down the East Coast and across the Midwest, winning the MBOTMA Americana-Roots Band Contest at last year's Minnesota State Fair.

While rooted in the style of traditional Western swing, the group's sound is also, as MBOTMA Magazine writes, "infused with showtune-pop sensibility and the kind of presentation that can only be learned by performing for your supper on the streets of the Crescent City."
