NSMA's 27th Annual Bluegrass Masters Weekend offers three days of jamming, a day of workshops, and an evening concert.
This year's featured artist is banjoist KRISTIN SCOTT BENSON. One of the top players on the bluegrass scene today, Kristin is a gifted artist and teacher with a keen interest in the banjo as a lyrical instrument. She's a four-time International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) "Banjo Player of the Year" and has been a member of GRAMMY-nominated and two-time IBMA winners THE GRASCALS since 2008.
Larry Nager of Bluegrass Unlimited writes, "There was one grass ceiling no woman could cut through--until Kristin Scott Benson came along... Until then, no woman had ever been hired to play one of the most defining of the bluegrass instruments in an A-list, festival-headlining, all-male band... Kristin takes the banjo where no woman has taken it before."
Kristin's BANJO WORKSHOPS are open to learners of all levels, 9 am to 5 pm, Sat. November 4 (registration at event only, no participant max).
The SATURDAY NIGHT CONCERT (tickets for sale at event only, $20/$10) features the Kristin Scott Benson Trio (Kristin on banjo; Danny Roberts, mandolin; Chris Jones, guitar and lead vocals).
